YEAR-ROUND TEAM VOLUNTEER POSITIONS 

We’re growing our team! 

Are you interested in joining the ClexaCon team and helping us make the most exciting, diverse and inclusive event yet? If so, please check out the open positions below! We’re looking for team players who are passionate about LGBTQ+ representation and creating a safe space for our communities. We particularly encourage people of color, trans and non-binary people to join the team. 

You do not need to be based in Las Vegas to join the team. 

All positions are volunteer positions however ClexaCon will provide travel and accommodation for you to be at the convention. You must be able to commit to the team through April 2020 and be able to attend the convention on April 15-19, 2020. 

All roles require:   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivation and the ability to ask questions and take action
  • Familiarity with google drive documents and spreadsheets

VENDOR COORDINATOR:  

The Vendor Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the vendor floor and working to ensure the best possible vendor experience.  This role requires communication with vendors about logistics and pricing, and answering questions in the lead-up to the event. During the event, this role is responsible for overseeing the vendor hall including load-in and load-out, distributing badges and required documents, answering vendor questions, and managing a small team of volunteers to ensure the vendor hall runs smoothly and issues are addressed quickly.   

The ideal candidate will have a passion for working with the LGBTQ+ community, be an enthusiastic team player and at the same time have the ability to work independently, understand the value of creating lasting relationships with vendors who attend our convention, and will also have excellent organizational and customer service methods and practices.     

Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week with an increase in the lead-up to the convention 

 

ACCESSIBILITY COORDINATOR:  

The Accessibility Coordinator is responsible for working with our team, our attendees, ASL interpreters, accessibility advocates and others to ensure that ClexaCon is an accessible space for everyone. This role will include regularly reviewing the accessibility policy, communicating with attendees with accessibility needs before and during the event and coordinating with ASL interpreters and volunteers to ensure that access needs are met.    

The ideal candidate will have experience with accessibility requirements, knowledge of ADA regulations, and a passion for serving people with disabilities in the LGBTQ+ community.  The ideal candidate will also have excellent customer service skills, the ability to educate staff and volunteers on best practices when providing accessibility services, and will also be the point person for all accessibility services during the con.    

Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per week with an increase in the lead-up to the convention 

 

FILM FESTIVAL TEAM (3 positions):    

Work with the Film Festival Program Director to screen submissions, reach out to campuses and organizations to encourage submissions. Experience with film festivals or filmmaking is a plus. This is a great role for a film student or someone interested in film. Get hands-on experience planning and running a film festival and working with filmmakers.   

The ideal candidate(s) are organized, outgoing, and have a deep interest in queer cinema.    

Time Commitment: 1-3 hours per week with an increase in the lead-up to the convention 

 

PANEL LEAD:  

Assist the team in sourcing and coordinating panels leading up to the convention. Responsibilities include organizing panel submissions and contacting panelists.  During the convention, this position will lead the panel hospitality team to ensure that panelists have the information and resources they need in order to have a successful ClexaCon experience. 

The ideal candidate is detail oriented and well organized, has excellent customer service skills, and is capable of exercising good judgement in decision making.

Time Commitment: 2-5 hours per week with an increase in the lead-up to the convention
