From a young age, Ariela Barer has established herself as a promising television and film actress.

In November 2017, Barer quickly became a fan favorite starring as the purple haired ‘Gert Yorkes’ on Marvel’s “Runaways.” Created by Stephanie Savage (“Gossip Girl”) and Josh Scwartz (“The O.C.”), the series follows 6 teenagers who discover their parents are supervillains in disguise. The group bands together to run away from their homes in order to atone for their parents’ actions and to discover the secrets of their origins. Barer stars opposite Virginia Garder, Lyrica Okano, Gregg Sulkin, and Allergra Acosta. Season 2 premiered on December 21, 2018 on Hulu.

Barer can next be seen in the indie thriller “Ladyworld,” written and directed by Amanda Kramer. After a massive earthquake, eight teenage girls are trapped in an endless birthday party where hysteria ensues once their food and water begin to deplete. The girls divide against each other using fear and power to survive. Barer stars opposite Annalise Basso, Maya Hawke, and Ryan Simpkins. The film is produced by Love & Death Productions and premiered at the Fantastic Festival in September 2018 as well as the BFI London Film Festival in October 2018.

In September 2018 and August 2017, Barer had a recurring guest starring role in the Netflix dramedy “Atypical” created by Robia Rashid (“How I Met Your Mother”) by Sony Pictures Television. In January 2017, Barer also had a recurring guest starring role in the Netflix Emmy nominated comedy series “One Day At a Time.” Created by Gloria Caderon Kellett (“How I Met Your Mother”) and Mike Royce (“Everybody Loves Raymond”), the critically acclaimed series is inspired by Norman Lear’s 1975 series of the same name. Lear also serves as a producer. Barer played ‘Carmen,’ the best friend of main character Elena Alvares (Isabella Gomez), and starred opposite Justina Machado and Rita Moreno.  

Barer’s other television credits include “Modern Family,” “New Girl,” “Weeds,” “90210,” and “ER.”
