WE ARE COMMITTED TO YOUR SAFETY
At ClexaCon, the health and safety of our community is our main priority, and because of this we will continue to implement policies and protocols based on state/local health guidelines and public health recommendations as we prepare for ClexaCon August 26-28, 2022. As the COVID-19 situation continues to change, we will continue to refer to the evolving public health guidance regarding large gatherings and adapt accordingly. Do I need to wear a mask?
In an effort to create a gathering that accommodates our community safely, in addition to following current healthcare and governmental guidelines, masking in all indoor areas is strongly encouraged. Masking will be mandatory in autograph, photo op and meet and greet areas regardless of vaccination status. Masks should completely cover the nose and mouth, fit snugly against the sides of the face, and not have any gaps. For more information on effectively wearing masks, please click here. At any point we may need to pivot and make masking mandatory – please visit this page periodically for the most updated information.
Aside from mask use, to enter ClexaCon you will be required to provide verification of full COVID-19 vaccination status or proof of a negative COVID-19 test taken within 72 hours. ClexaCon reserves the right to modify requirements or limits for attending or participating in activities.
Please note: these policies apply to all attendee groups, including but not limited to vendors, guests, staff, press, professionals, volunteers, and cosplayers. It is possible that adjustments may need to be made to policies and guidelines during the event in order to ensure the health and safety of all attendee groups, so we ask that everyone follow the directions on informational signage and from all staff. Any such changes would be made with our community in mind.
Can I travel to Anaheim right now?
We recommend that you review any guidelines or restrictions for travel to the city and state of the event as well as travel to the US. That information is available here and here. For specific information concerning the Anaheim Marriott policies please visit Anaheim Marriott – What to Expect.
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is another great resource and we encourage you to visit this site often for up-to-date information on preventative measures.
We want to make sure our community is as safe as possible. We will continue to update our website as new information becomes available, so visit this page often for the most up-to-date information.
We look forward to seeing you at ClexaCon in August!
What do I need to provide to show proof of vaccination?
Proof of vaccination* or a recent negative test will be required for all in attendance aged 5 years or older. In accordance with State recommendations, negative PCR test results must be from a test taken within 72 hours of the start of the show. Masking in all indoor areas is strongly encouraged. Masking will be mandatory in autograph, photo op and meet and greet areas regardless of vaccination status. We are following CDC guidelines and California state and local requirements and will be adjusting our safety protocols as needed between now and the start of ClexaCon.
*Acceptable methods of proof include:
- The CDC or WHO COVID-19 vaccination record card received when you were vaccinated
- A photocopy of the vaccine card (front and back)
- A photo of the vaccine card (front and back) on a phone or any other electronic device
- A digital record issued by the Department of Public Health
People who were vaccinated in California can get a free digital COVID-19 Vaccination Record at myvaccinerecord.cdph.ca.gov
Visit this site for a state-by-state listing of vaccine record resources.
There are two types of viral tests that can be used: nucleic acid amplification tests (NAATs) and antigen tests. Test results must be provided in the form of written documentation (paper or electronic copy). The documentation must include:
- Type of test (indicating it is a PCR/NAAT or antigen test)
- Entity issuing the result (e.g. laboratory, healthcare provider, or telehealth service)
- Specimen collection date. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within 72 hours
- Information that identifies the person (full name plus at least one other identifier such as date of birth) and matches ID shown
- Negative test result
Your government-issued ID must match the name on the test results documentation. Those younger than 18 may use a government-issued ID, birth certificate, social security card, school ID, or locally issued ID.
I am unvaccinated, how do I attend ClexaCon?
For adults and children aged 5 and older who are not fully vaccinated, a recent negative COVID-19 test result must be obtained. All COVID-19 tests must be done by a certified lab, clinic, or physician. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within 72 hours.
Both PCR and antigen are acceptable as long as testing is conducted within the time frame.
What do I need to provide to show proof of a negative COVID-19 test?
Your negative COVID-19 test documentation needs to be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the test. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within 72 hours.
Otherwise, you can display your proof on your smartphone or present a physical copy, along with an appropriate government-issued ID matching the name on the documentation. Those younger than 18 may use a government-issued ID, birth certificate, social security card, school ID, or locally issued ID.
All COVID-19 tests must be done by a certified lab or clinic, home tests cannot be accepted.
Does my child (12 and under) need to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test?
All children aged 5 and older are required to show proof of full vaccination or a negative COVID-19 test using the methods listed above. If providing a negative COVID-19 test, your child’s negative COVID-19 test documentation needs to be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the test. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within 72 hours.
I will receive my last shot days before coming to ClexaCon. Do I just need proof of vaccination?
If your final vaccine shot is less than 14 days before your first day of attending ClexaCon, you will be required to provide proof of a negative COVID-19 test. If providing a negative COVID-19 test, your negative COVID-19 test documentation needs to be directly from the healthcare provider that performed the test. A negative test result must show the specimen was collected within 72 hours.
What is the refund policy if I am unable to attend due to COVID-19?
Prior to August 1, we took requests on a case-by-base basis, but this close to the event, we are no longer offering those adjustments. You can sell or transfer your ticket through Eventbrite, or we can offer you a free virtual pass instead. Follow this link for instructions on editing your order in Eventbrite. There are also many virtual add-ons for those who cannot participate in person this year.
Am I required to wear a mask during the convention?
Masking in all indoor areas is strongly encouraged. Masking will be mandatory in autograph, photo op and meet and greet areas regardless of vaccination status. Masks should completely cover the nose and mouth, fit snugly against the sides of the face, and not have any gaps. For more information on how to effectively wear a mask, please click here. At any point we could go back to required masking – please visit this page periodically for the most updated information.
I cannot wear a mask due to a medical concern. What are my options?
Currently, wearing a mask indoors is optional, though strongly recommended. If health guidelines change and we return to a mandatory masking policy and you are unable to wear a mask due to a medical concern, please contact us at [email protected].
Will masks be available at the event?
Please bring your own mask to ClexaCon.
I’m in cosplay and a mask doesn’t fit properly – what are my options?
Masks are currently strongly recommended. If that changes and we return to mandatory masking, then it would apply to all attendees, even cosplayers. We look forward to seeing your creativity!
I am bringing my child with me to ClexaCon. Are they required to wear a mask?
Masking in all indoor areas is strongly encouraged. Masking will be mandatory in autograph, photo op and meet and greet areas regardless of vaccination status. Masks should completely cover the nose and mouth, fit snugly against the sides of the face, and not have any gaps. For more information on how to effectively wear a mask, please click here. Do I need to wear a mask during photo ops with celebrities?
Mask use during photo ops will be mandatory unless the celebrity guest decides differently. If a guest is comfortable, masks can be removed for the photo op and then immediately worn again. Please be respectful of their choices as they are here to support our community.
Mask Guidelines:
For masks to be most effective, they must fit properly and snugly, must secure under your chin, and fully cover your nose and mouth.
The following types of masks are not as effective as the ones described above:
- masks that are not able to be secured under your chin, including bandanas or scarves.
- Neck gaiters
- Mesh masks
- masks that have exhalation valves
- Damaged/torn masks
Do children need to be present to pick up badges or can parents do that without them?
Children (age 12 and under) must be present to be registered for a badge and adults will be required to provide emergency contact information for any child registrant.
What is considered “fully vaccinated”?
At this time, “fully vaccinated” means that the first day of your attendance at ClexaCon must be at least 14 days after completion of your primary series of an FDA or WHO-approved or authorized COVID-19 vaccine, such as:
- second dose of a two dose COVID-19 vaccine (Pfizer-BioNTech or Moderna), or
- single dose of a single dose COVID-19 vaccine (Johnson & Johnson’s Janssen vaccine)
In accordance with CDC guidelines, booster shots are not required to be considered fully vaccinated, however, please note that the CDC recommends that people remain up to date with their vaccines, which includes additional doses for individuals who are immunocompromised or booster doses at regular time points. Please note that this remains subject to further update as CDC guidance is revised.
